Washington(CNN)-President Joe Biden is not altering his policy towards Israel following a deadly strike that resulted in the death of more than 45 people, the white house said Tuesday, suggesting the incident had not yet crossed a red line that would force changes in American support
instead, White House National Security Council spokesman john Kirby said the US would look for answers from Israel following the country’s investigation of the incident, which he described as “Heart breaking”
Israel’s military said it now controls the entire border of Gaza with Egypt, capturing the important Philadelphi corridor and deepening its offensive in southern Gaza.
Palestinians in Rafah reported heavy fighting. The U.S. and other allies warned Israel against a full offensive, saying it would cause a humanitarian disaster.
More than 1 million Palestinians have fled due to the fighting, seeking shelter in makeshift camps without enough food, water, or shelter, according to the U.N.
An Israeli official said the war with Hamas might last until the end of the year. Israel aims to remove Hamas from Gaza, but this has caused many civilian deaths.
Israeli attacks in Gaza have killed over 36,000 Palestinians, according to the Health Ministry.
